Training courses on Human Rights

Amman Center for Human Rights Studies, Academic Freedom Project (ACHRS): Public conferences, research and trainings on human rights in Arab societies. (web site in English and Arabic)

Centre de Conseils et d'Appui pour les Jeunes en Matière de Droits de l'Homme (CODAP): Human Rights courses for youth. (web site only available in French)

Geneva Institute for Human Rights (GIHR): A training organization for human rights promotion and protection, in particular for human rights organisations and defenders. The website offers a list of several short trainings and workshops in various fields of human rights. (website in English, French and Arabic)

Henry Dunant University College: Summer school in human rights and the right to education. Other human rights courses are held at the United Nations during the Human Rights Council sessions, focusing on economic, social and cultural rights. (website in French and Spanish)

Human Rights Education Associates: Long-distance courses specialized in human rights for international organizations' employees and human rights defenders. The courses offered cover topics in alternative dispute resolution, police order, protection against torture, among others. (website in several languages)

Human Rights Information and Documentation Systems, International (HURIDOCS): Offers customised advice, training and support mainly to human rights organizations and advocates. Core competencies include monitoring and documenting violations, website design and information security as well as setting up a documentation centre or online library.

International Center for Transitional Justice (ICTJ): Offerings include courses in English and French generally lasting 3-5 days, workshops, and fellowship programs focusing on transnational justice for scholars, students and practitioners. (website in English, Spanish, French, and Arabic)

International Service for Human Rights (ISHR): numerous courses for human rights defenders to learn about the UN human rights system, and experience first-hand its various mechanisms and procedures. (web site in English, French and German)

WITNESS: provides training and resources for video development as an effective tool for human rights advocacy.

World Association of School as an Instrument for Peace (EIP): Training courses on human rights for teachers as well as other activities in the area of human rights and peace education for global advocates. (website in English, French and Spanish)

World Organization against Torture (OMCT): Hosts a series of workshops designed to train human rights advocates to present individual complaints to the Human Rights Committee and the Committee against Torture.

Centre pour l'Action Non-violente: Training in conflict resolution (only available in French).

Centre for Information, Counselling and Training Professions relating to International Cooperation (CINFO ): This service offers training, information, consultation and workshops in the field of international cooperation. (website in English, French and German)

Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL): Certificate of Advanced Studies in Management of Development Projects targeted at university graduates, more specifically project managers, engineers or social scientists, to broaden their understating in development, technology and project management.

International NGO Training and Research Center (INTRAC): Courses on advocacy and policy influencing, impact assessment, and monitoring and evaluation. Courses are also adapted and tailor-made to suit your organisation’s needs. (website in several languages)

Henry Dunant Foundation Latin-America: seminars and courses in various countries in Latin America specialising in training for professionals, public officials, international organisations, scholars, among others (available only in Spanish).

NGO Management School: Training available for NGOs and other civil society organisations to increase their knowledge in management, capacity building and sharpening practical skills.

UNANGO: Provides customised services to NGOs, UN Agencies and other organisations. Trainings available include human resources management, funding, research and capacity building, among others.

University of Geneva: International Organizations MBA (IOMBA): Educates professionals in the fields of international governmental and nongovernmental organisations and their interactions with other institutions.

University of Geneva - PIAH Modern Management for Non Profit Organizations: 6 modules focusing on the skills and competencies required for managing non-profit organisations, projects or other organisations with limited resources.

Webster University - MA in International Non Governmental Organizations: The curriculum integrates information and theories from international relations’ theory and skill-based education from the disciplines of management, business, human resources, and marketing.

Cerah Genève - Geneva Center for education and research in humanitarian action -MA of advanced studies (MAS) in Humanitarian Action: The curriculum integrates theory and fundamental questions of humanitarianism, including courses on research methodology.

Cerah Genève - Geneva Center for education and research in humanitarian action -Specialised courses in Humanitarian Action (Certificates):5-6 weeks of intensive courses, based on active learning methods and courses delivered by academics and a wide range of experts form partner NGOs and international organisations.
